The compliance with EEXI and CII calls for optimization in the speed of the vessel, especially for vessels for which an approved sea trial or model test is unavailable for the EEXI draft. For some vessels, a conduct of sea trial or a CFD analysis would be required to define the speed power curves at the EEXI draft condition. These exercises would provide a definite advantage than use of conservative approximate formula given in the IMO guidelines.
